Scarlett & Crimson cosmetics deals to extend brand into North America

Coolabi Plc (AIM:COO), the media company focused on the ownership and creative management of high quality intellectual property assets, announces two further deals for the teen and tween girl’s brand, Scarlett & Crimson, underlining the property’s capacity for rapid international expansion.

Coolabi has signed a licensing agreement with leading beauty company Japonesque to manufacture and distribute Scarlett & Crimson cosmetics specifically designed for the US and Canadian markets. The range will be launched in spring 2011 and sold through North American beauty retail channels. This will be the first cosmetics range in this market with premium formulations and accessible prices geared toward the teen and tween market.

Coolabi also announces the launch of new global product development programme with beauty industry luminaries Ruby Hammer and Millie Kendall, which will extend the existing UK agreement to cover all global product development of Scarlett & Crimson beauty products. Hammer and Kendall have already developed successful Scarlett & Crimson ranges for Boots and Superdrug in the UK market.

Co-owned by Coolabi and creator Ged Backland, the Scarlett & Crimson brand has shown growing appeal among teen and tween girls and the brand is enjoying success in both the UK and North American market where key categories in development include perfume, bath and body, gifting and accessories, stationery and clothing.

Jeremy Banks, CEO of Coolabi, commented: “Bringing Ruby and Millie’s product development success with Scarlett & Crimson to the global market is a significant step forward for the brand, highlighting its growing appeal and continuing success. We are extremely pleased to be working with Japonesque as we are confident that this range is a breakthrough cosmetics programme with enormous potential. “
