Disney Channel Worldwide Invests in Coolabi’s The Shaila Show

London, UK (21 November, 2007)  British children’s television producer Coolabi Productions Ltd today announced a development deal with Disney Channel Worldwide’s Global Original Programming Division, which has optioned the rights to Coolabi property The Shaila Show (working title).

A live action comedy-drama mixed with animation, The Shaila Show revolves around a British girl and her animated fantasy life as a talk show host.  In everyday life Shaila is over-looked and ignored by the people around her, so to compensate she creates a ‘virtual reality’ in her head – ‘The Shaila Show’.  The animated Shaila summons her family and friends onto the show where they must answer for their actions to a confident, all-powerful TV Presenter version of Shaila.

The production is one of the first to be announced by Disney Channel’s London based Global Original Programming hub, established in April 2007 to drive forward the investment and development of live action and animation outside of North America, for both European and global distribution.

Julian Scott, Head of Children's Programming at Coolabi, comments: "The Shaila Show is a truly original and exciting format and we're thrilled that Disney can see its potential. This is a significant deal for Coolabi and very much in line with our stated plan to work with top global broadcasters - we can't wait to get started."
